4. Drawing from the Photograph
The second drawing, using the same tools, was more successful
compared to the first one. There were more interesting features such as curved
angles to pop up the corner of the building and shadow to create the 3D side of
the building. Despite the fact that it’s better than the first drawing, the way
I drew the lines were unstable and too messy. From this drawing practice, I
will pick up how to draw in a more effective and less time consuming way.
The picture was taken by me while I was living in Glasgow, learning basic form of art and while I was reseraching for my project, it was good scenery and took this photo on a 1 minute exposure rate. In the end, it turned out shockingly well.
Last drawing was done
after the practical session to improve my perspective drawing even further
since I was not satisfied with my 2 previous drawings. It was drawn on A4
sketchbook and done within 4~5mins as a quick sketch but I was more confident
at this drawing because I had more equipment than before, for example, variety
of graphite to create tones and the photograph I can concentrate on. Even
though there was not much sense of depth since it was a huge scaled
environmental photograph rather than one specific building with more details. However,
it was a good experience to draw an entire environment in a perspective view to
know the difference between drawing one object and entire environment.
