Live Drawing
For this week, it is all about how fast and quickly you can
capture moving objects, primarily focused on human. It’s a completely a
different experience compare to last week’s task which was drawing a still
object creating shadow to express 3D view. Since it was motionless object, it
was easy to focus on and we can spend more time to give more detail on the
object we were drawing. It’s been a while since I have drawn any moving objects
which made 30minutes of my time drawing people outside was quite difficult but
as soon as I have gained what I have forgotten before (quick drawing skill), it
became more natural as I drew more figures.
As always, I started
off with fast sketches of people walking on the street but with pencil, it
couldn’t meet my standard and there just was not enough time to put enough
detail of the figure which drove me crazy. Also, for using pencil, it created
smudges all over which was rather annoying and understood why smudging is a bad
habit to have.
After unsuccessful attempt
of using pencil, I have moved on to using pen even though I am not
exceptionally good at. Despite of being in a disadvantage of using pen which
I’m not comfortable at, outcome of my drawing was better than drawing with
pencil, maybe it had to do with how much pressure I need to put when I draw.
This task was not about how detail you can draw but how fast
you can capture person’s movement within short space of time. Its purpose was
to increase our fast-sketching ability to draw the basic human figure when we
need to. These 3 weeks, we have been drawing in different styles and this is
just my personal opinion but this week’s task was definitely more challenging
but I have learned more than what we have done in previous 2 weeks.
